Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the Bush Company Roof Top Tent – Classic Series MAX edition is unrivalled in its quality, simplicity and practicality. 

With a setup/pack down time of under 3 minutes and a 75mm high density foam mattress, this really is the ultimate in comfort and convenience and a superb addition to any camping/touring setup. 

Double Action Roof

The Classic Series MAX has a double action opening roof, so you have the option of either just opening the tent as a Clamshell or opening the second roof providing 141cm of headroom at the rear and 137cm at the front of the tent. The second roof can be closed easily from the inside or outside of the tent and is firmly secured when closed with catches on the sides and front. 

Ventilation and Access

In addition to the standard rear and side openings found on the Classic Series, when fully open the Classic Series MAX has an additional large opening at the front of the tent and two additional windows on the side of the canvas providing increased airflow and also visibility from the tent. 

All of the openings on the Classic Series MAX have high quality midge mesh and a canvas door that zips up from the bottom. 

Power and Lighting

There is 12V power pre-installed with the input being an anderson plug underneath the tent. For lighting there is pre-wired LED light in the roof of the tent,

There are 1.8m extruded roof rails enabling you to secure up to 200Kg on the roof of the tent in the closed position (recommended to use load bars), and even with 50Kg on the roof the mechanical gas struts will still be able to open and safely support the roof.

Care & Maintenance

Rooftop Tent Care and Maintenance

We recommend that new rooftop tents are opened and the canvas wet down on the outside before first use. Do not spray water onto the air vent above the rear door. This will ensure that your rooftop tent performs flawlessly in wet weather by allowing the poly/cotton core spun thread and canvas to swell ensuring the take up of any potential leaks in the stitching.

Regular Maintenance

  • Lubricate the tent seal with silicon gel and clean seal mating surface thoroughly to prevent the seal from 'sticking' to the tent frame.
  • Check for any signs of wear and tear, such as cracks, tears, or loose stitching in the tent fabric, midge mesh and seals.
  • Inspect zippers, gas struts, hinges for smooth operation and lubrication.

Cleaning Canvas:

  • Do not use soap or detergents on the canvas.
  • Do not store the product if wet, allow drying first.
  • To clean use a soft brush and cold water.
  • Do not expose to petrol, oils or harsh chemicals.

Cleaning Mould From Canvas:

The canvas of The Bush Company Tents is treated during manufacturing with a mould and mildew inhibitor, but in the event that your tent canvas develop mould please followw the steps below to remove it:

  • Allow mould to dry
  • Remove surface mould off with a stiff bristle brush
  • Vacuum the area
  • Treat area with Oil of Clove spray (diluted spray can be purchased or can be mixed using a few drops of oil into a spray bottle of water)

Condensation:

Condensation is a natural occurrence, the combination of cold nights and warm days can create a lovely environment for mould and mildew to develop. This is not because of bad seals but from temperature changes combined with humidity creating condensation inside the tent.

When in use, reduce condensation build-up, keep some of the windows open to increase airflow.

After your trip, make sure you allow the tent to fully dry inside and out. If you are not using your rooftop tent for an extended time (more than 10 days) open the tent regularly to air it out, and possibly remove the mattress and store it separately until your next trip.

Tent Frame Care

To ensure the longevity and aesthetic appeal of your powder coated surfaces, regular care and maintenance are essential. Factors such as pollution, dirt, salt, and exposure to strong ultraviolet (UV) light can gradually impact the quality and integrity of the coating over time.

Cleaning Recommendations:

  • Remove Loose Dirt: Begin by gently removing any loose dirt or deposits from the surface using a wet sponge. This initial step helps prevent scratching during the cleaning process.
  • Use Mild Cleaning Solutions: for general cleaning, utilize a non-abrasive brush or cloth along with a ph-neutral car wash product such as Salt Shift 4x4 & Caravan Wash or Bowden's Dirty Times 4WD Wash to keep the surface of the tent if good condition. These solutions effectively remove dust, salt, and other deposits without causing damage to the powder coating.
  • Rinse Thoroughly: after applying the cleaning solution, rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water. This step ensures the removal of any residue or cleaning agents that may be left behind. 

Powder Coat Treatment

We recommend that at a minimum of once every six months or if your powder coat surface is fading, the powder coat should be treated with a dedicated powder coat restorer such as Rig Revive or Ezy Renew. Follow the application directions on the product you select.

Recommended Cleaning Frequency:

  • For general use we recommend cleaning and powder coat treatment every six months as a good practice to maintain appearance and coating integrity.
  • If your tent is used regularly for beach camping we recommend cleaning the tent after each trip as you should your vehicle.
  • If your tent is located in an area with high exposure to pollutants or intense UV radiation from being outside all the time, it should be cleaned and the powder coat treated approximately every three months.

 Important Considerations

Avoid Harsh Detergents: Steer clear of detergents that recommend the use of gloves when handling, as they are usually harsh and may be unsuitable for cleaning powder coatings. Instead, opt for a good quality car wash and wax or a similar mild cleaning solution.

Caution with Solvents

While certain solvents are recommended for removing sealants or other building residues, they can potentially harm the extended life of the powder coated surface. To minimise risks, it is best to avoid using solvents unless absolutely necessary. If paint splashes, sealants, or other residues need to be removed, you can safely use methylated spirits, turpentine, or white spirits. However, be cautious as their use may still have long-term effects that may not be immediately visible and could take up to twelve months to appear.

Home Delivery

If you provide a residential address for delivery of your order it is assumed that your items can left in a safe place at your home if nobody ia available to receive them in person, in which case, The Bush Company is not accountable for any loss once delivery is made.

Pickup In-Store

To save on shipping costs you can select "Pickup In-Store" during checkout.

All items are available for collection from our store at The Bush Company,14 Cessna Street, Marcoola, QLD 4564.  Please note that due to insurance and health and safety issues, you cannot self-fit your purchase on our premises.

The Caprax Canopies by Rhinoman are also available for pickup from our warehouses in Melbourne and Perth, just select "Pickup In-Store" during checkout and we will contact you to confirm collection date and time.

International Delivery

Freight costs for international orders are calculated excluding customs duties and local sales taxes.  The receiver will be required to cover the costs of local import duties and sales taxes. Large Items (Courier Delivery Tents & Canopies)

Home Delivery

’Home Delivery ’ means a home or private residence, including locations where a business is operated from the home or private residence. For home delivery of rooftop tents and canopies a forklift must be available at the delivery point and truck access. We will contact you to confirm that his is the case.  Unloading by hand is not permitted by the couriers due to health and safety regulations. If, as is usually the case, you do not have a forklift available at your home address, we can arrange for your tent or canopy to be delivered to the nearest FEDEX freight depot/agent for collection from there.

Business Delivery

If you provide a commercial premises address for the delivery of your rooftop tent or canopy,  a forklift must be available at the delivery point and truck access. Unloading by hand is not permitted by the couriers due to health and safety regulations.

Depot Collection

Damage In Transit

If you or the person responsible for receiving your order does not check that the item has arrived in good condition prior to accepting it, The Bush Company cannot be held responsible for any claim for damage in transit.

When your order shipment arrives, it is essential that you check it thoroughly for any signs of damage before signing to accept the shipment.  This means checking the exterior box and if there are any signs of damage externally then the box should be opened, and the product examined for any signs of damage to the product itself.  This needs to be done before you sign anything to say that the item has been received, the driver needs to wait until you are satisfied.  If you are not satisfied with the condition of the item, then you are entitled to refuse delivery and the courier will have to return the product to us.

If you do not follow this procedure and it turns out that the item has been damaged in transit, then there is no way for The Bush Company to claim on the freight insurance to cover any damage.  If you sign anything and are not satisfied you must ensure that this is noted by the driver in writing and obtain a copy that is signed by the driver.
